Antaŭ du semajnoj ni flugis al Kubo. En la flughaveno ni vidis nian aeroplanon alveni. Aliaj personoj eliris kaj ni eniris. Poste ni ekflugis. Morgaŭ ni reenflugos.
al-/el-/en-
Use al-/el-/en- to express direction and movement,these syllables are also prepositions.
- Example:
- En la flughaveno ni vidis nian aeroplanon alveni. Aliaj personoj eliris kaj ni eniris.At the airport, we saw our plane arrive. Other people got off and we got on.
- al = towards; veni = come
alveni = arrive - el = out; iri = go
eliri = exit/go out, here: get off/out - en = into; iri = go
eniri = enter/go in, here: get on/in
ek-/re-
The syllable ek- means to start something (Ek, ek! = Let's go/start!/Go!) and re- means back or again.
- Example:
- Poste ni ekflugis. Morgaŭ ni reenflugos. Sed al mi plaĉas esti ĉi tie kaj mi volas reveni.Then we took off. Tomorrow we fly back. But I like it here and I’d like to come back again.
- ek = denotes the beginning; flugi = fly
ekflugi = start to fly, take off - re = back/again; flugi = fly
reflugi = fly back/ fly again
Info
Sometimes there are two possible interpretations for a word with re-. To avoid confusion, we can use reen- to express back.
- Example:
- Morgaŭ ni reflugos.= Tomorrow we’re flying again.
- Morgaŭ ni reenflugos. = Tomorrow we fly back.
