Choose the correct demonstrative pronoun.

  1. ludo estas pli valora ol .Nominative (who/what actions the verb) + singular (ludo)This game is more valuable than that one.
  2. En kiun klubon ni iros - en aŭ ?Accusative (Where to?/ movement and direction) + singular (klubo)Which club are we going to – this one or that one?
  3. tasojn mi jam lavis.Accusative (who/what recieves the action?) + plural (tasoj)I have already washed those cups.

Choose the right demonstrative pronoun.

  1. Mi esperas, ke somero estos pli bona ol pluvaj monatoj de la pasinta somero.somero (subject, singular, now) → ĉi tiu
    pluvaj monatoj (subject, plural, last year) → tiu    I hope that this summer will be better than those rainy months last summer.
  2. knabo tie defiis knabon apud mi ŝakludi.knabo tie (subject, singular, far away) → tiu
    knabon (object, singular, here) → ĉi tiun    That boy over there challenged this boy next to me to a game of chess.
  3. Mi ŝatas filmon pli ol tri, kiujn ni vidis pasintan monaton.filmo (object, singular, now/ here) → ĉi tiun
    tri (object, plural, last month) → tiujn    I like this film more than those three we watched last month.
  4. Oni ne povas kompari tenisludantojn el la sesdekaj jaroj kun tenisludantoj de nuntempo.tenisludantoj el la sesdekaj jaroj (object, plural, in the past) → tiujn
    kun tenisludantoj de nuntempo (preposition kun, plural, now) → ĉi tiuj    One can’t compare those tennis players from the 60s with these tennis players of today.
  5. manĝaĵo gustas pli bone ol , kiun ni manĝis ĉi tie antaŭ du semajnoj.manĝaĵo (subject, singular, now) → ĉi tiu
    manĝaĵo (subject, singular, two weeks ago) → tiu    This food tastes better than that (food) that we ate here two weeks ago.

Choose the right form of tia.

  1. Hieraŭ mi vidis grandan kaj elegantan helhararan hundon. Mi ŝatus havi hundon.singular (a dog), accusative (who/what receives the action? the dog) → tianYesterday I saw a big and elegant fair haired dog. I would like to have that kind of dog.
  2. Diana havas mojosajn multkolorajn ŝuojn. Nun ĉiuj amikinoj de Diana ankaŭ deziras ŝuojn.plural (multiple shoes), accusative (What recieves the action? the shoes) → tiajnDiana has cool colourful shoes. Now all of Diana’s friends want shoes like that.
  3. Kion vi dirus en okazo?singular (one occasion), nominative (after a preposition) → tiaWhat would you say on such an occasion?
  4. Niaj novaj najbaroj konstruigas ekstraordinaran domon. domoj normale nur staras en Azio.plural (houses like that), nominative (What actions the verb? houses like that) → tiajOur new neighbours are building an extraordinary house. Houses like that are normally only in Asia.
  5. Mia plano estas : Ni ellitiĝos kaj komencos frue kaj posttagmeze ni povos ripozi.singular (a plan), nominative (after esti) → tiaMy plan is like this: we get up and start early tomorrow and in the afternoon we can relax.
  6. Neniam antaŭe mi manĝis teruran manĝaĵon.singular (food), accusative (what receives the action? the food) → tianNever before have I eaten such terrible food.
